Camping Biscuit Recipes


Try one of these camping biscuit recipes the next time you want to make something quick, easy, and amazingly delicious. And please feel free to send us any of your camping or backpacking recipes.



Plain Ol' Biscuits

These are just your basic biscuits, but just because they are basic doesn't mean they are delicious. Try 'em. You'll love 'em.

  • 2 Cups Camper's All Purpose Baking Mix or other Bisquick type mix
  • 4 Tbsp. Butter
  • 3/4 Cup Water
  • Cut up the butter into small pieces and add to the baking mix. Slowly add the water until a dough is formed. Knead the dough well. Pull off a small pieces of dough and flatten them into biscuit shapes. Bake in a Dutch oven for 15 to 18 minutes. Biscuits should be golden brown on top.

    Makes roughly 10 biscuits.



    Boullion Biscuits

    These are similar the the Plain Ol' Biscuits above, but they take them a little bit farther.

  • 1.5 Cups Camper's All Purpose Baking Mix or other Bisquick type mix
  • 2 Tbsp. Butter
  • 1/2 Cup Water
  • Onion and or Garlic to taste
  • 1 Boullion Cube or packet (Chicken is our favorite, but you can use any kind)
  • 1/4 Cup Corn Meal
  • Mix everything except the corn meal to make a stiff dough. Pull off small pieces and make them into round biscuit shapes. Toss them in the corn meal to cover all sides. Fry in a well greased frying pan for 10 minutes on each side, or bake in a Dutch oven for 15 to 20 minutes until the biscuits are golden brown and crispy on top.

    Makes about 10 biscuits.



    Fried Corn Meal Biscuits

    This is one of our favorite camping biscuit recipes because it is super easy and quick, yet it is very tasty.

  • 2 Cups Corn Meal
  • 1 tsp. Salt
  • 1 to 1.5 Cups hot water
  • 2 to 3 Tbsp. Butter
  • Mix everything except the butter together to make a stiff batter. Grease the frying pan well with the butter. Spoon small amounts of the batter into the greased pan and flatten them. Fry each side for 8 to 10 minutes.

    Makes roughly 10 biscuits.
